Design only matters if the part gets made. DCD handles the engineering, CAD, and production planning directly, then sees the part through to manufacturing — produced hands-on where capability allows, or through a trusted network of shops when that is the right route.

Either way, you deal with one person from the first sketch to the finished part, and the files that go to the machine are the files I built.

One-off and small-batch parts are welcome, with production runs when the design is ready.

Machining

Precision-machined metal and plastic parts — brackets, housings, adapters, bushings, fixtures, shafts, and replacement components for equipment that is no longer supported.

Machined parts start with a model built for machining: features a cutter can actually reach, tolerances applied only where they earn their cost, and material selected for the job rather than habit. Good CAD makes machining cheaper, and bad CAD shows up as a higher quote.

Sheet metal

Enclosures, panels, brackets, guards, mounts, and weldments.

Sheet metal has its own rules, and most of the cost is decided before anything is cut. Bend allowances have to match the material and the tooling. Flanges need enough room for the press brake. Flat patterns need to account for how the material actually behaves, not just how the model unfolds. Parts get designed around those realities and delivered with cut-ready DXFs and proper flat patterns.

Custom fabrication

Welded assemblies, frames, railings, signage structures, shop fixtures, and one-off builds that do not fit a standard process.

Fabrication work is where design and shop reality meet most directly: joints that can actually be welded, parts that can be held while they are assembled, and tolerances that acknowledge heat distortion. Designing with the build in mind saves rework later.

Related processes

Depending on the part, a project may also involve waterjet or laser cutting, forming, welding, finishing, powder coating, or anodizing. These are coordinated as part of the project so you are not chasing separate vendors.

How production is handled

DCD handles engineering, CAD, reverse engineering, prototyping, drawings, and project coordination directly. Parts are produced hands-on where capability allows, or through a trusted manufacturing network for processes and volumes that call for it.

Using a network is deliberate rather than a limitation: it means the process gets matched to the part instead of forcing every job through whatever machines happen to be in one building. The tradeoff is that I tell you honestly which route a part is taking.
